Girls swimming

Elk Grove's girls swimming team made their first meet of the season a positive one as the host Grens edged Schaumburg 96-82 in Mid-Suburban League action Thursday.

A trio of victories in the relays help Elk Grove's cause, as did a 1-2 finish in diving from Anna Sprenger (177.6) and Nikki Sugihara (117.45).

Schaumburg's Ingrid Hay was a double winner, taking top honors in the 50-yard freestyle (27.49) and 100 back (1:03.76).

Elk Grove had the top time in the 200 free (Kate Duffy), the 200 IM (Sara Lasovska), the 100 free (Erin Falejczyk) and the 100 breaststroke (Lindsey Hendren).
