West Chicago man held on child porn charges

A 72-year-old West Chicago man is being held on $50,000 bail, charged with four counts of possession of child pornography.

James Borchering, of the 0N700 block of Prince Crossing Road, was arrested Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Prosecutors said Borchering was the subject of an online investigation by the Sexual Predator Electronic Exploitation Division of the DuPage County sheriff's office.

Borchering is an inventor, according to patentbuddy.com, holding three U.S. patents in the fields of digital and telephonic telecommunications.

A preliminary search of electronics removed from Borchering's house on Wednesday identified the presence and distribution of child porn photos and videos, authorities said.

His next scheduled court appearance is at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 29 before Judge John Kinsella.
