Arlington Hts. police hosting drug take-back event

The Arlington Heights police will participate this month in the 10th National Prescription Take-Back Initiative to provide residents an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted, expired and unused pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medication.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Arlington Heights Police Department, 200 E. Sigwalt St.

The service is free and anonymous. Tablets, capsules and all other solid dosage forms will be accepted. Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted.

Since its inception, the initiative has resulted in the removal of more than 4.8 million pounds of prescription medication from circulation.
