Writer's Group Invites Aspiring Authors to Self Publishing Panel

A panel of experienced authors will provide insight into the many career options available to aspiring authors during the "Panel on Self Publishing" from 6:30-9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11, at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd.

Sponsored by the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), this panel is free and open to anyone who is interested in the topic of self-publishing. Panelists will discuss the differences between the traditional or self-published route, and how a writer can even engage in a combination of both. No registration is required for this free ACFW program.

Panelists will include Hallee Bridgeman, a best-selling Christian author who writes action-packed romantic suspense focusing on realistic characters who face real world problems. Her work has been described as refreshing, heart-stopping, exciting and edgy.

Panelist Nicole O'Dell, finalist for the ACFW's 2014 Editor-of-the-Year award, is the author of 24 books, founder of non-profit organization Choose NOW Ministries and a national event speaker and member of the Speak-Up Speaker Team. The mother of six, she writes issue-driven fiction and non-fiction.

Panelist Jane Steen's passion for literature, particularly fiction with nineteenth-century settings, eventually led her to write and publish her own novels. She is an active member of the Alliance of Independent Authors and the Historical Novel Society. Jane was born in England, then lived in Belgium for 16 years before moving to the U.S.

Moderating the panel will be Maureen Lang, award-winning author of more than 15 novels, including Look to the East, Pieces of Silver and Bees in the Butterfly Garden.
