Hoffman Estates Germanfest coming Sept. 12

The village of Hoffman Estates will hold its 10th annual Platzkonzert Germanfest - an open air celebration with German food, beer, entertainment and activities - on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The Platzkonzert Germanfest kicks off at 9 a.m. with the Germanfest 5K benefiting the Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates Rotary. Prizes and Cabela's gift cards will be awarded for top age category finishers.

Preregistration of $25 is required prior to Sept. 4 to guarantee a free shirt and other goodies. Registration is $30 on the day of the race.

The event is held at the Virginia Mary Hayter Village Green at 5510 Prairie Stone Parkway next to the Sears Centre Arena.

Following the 5K, visit the Oompah tent and amphitheater stages for entertainment from the Internationals, the Johnny Wagner Band, the Mike Schneider Band, the HOTT Production Dancers and the Centerfold Band.
