St. Viator steps up at Wheaton North

St. Viator's girls volleyball team won all three of its matches on Saturday at the Wheaton North Invite to win the championship of the Blue Division with a 3-2 record.

The Lions lost to Glenbard West (14-25, 13-25) and Yorkville (20-25, 16-25) on Wednesday in the opening day of tourney action but came back three days later to defeat Buffalo Grove (25-16, 26-24), Romeoville (25-22, 25-17) and Lincoln Park (25-21, 25-18).

Leading the St. Viator attack were senior Olivia Forbes (26 kills), senior Audrey Nuelle (15), senior Emily Hayes (15), senior Gabi Thomas (9), senior Danielle Laterza (8) and sophomore Catherine Hickey (7).

Sophomore Michaela Mueller was 205-of-210 setting with 81 assists while senior libero Ellie Meyer was 34-of-35 for 12 assists and also collected a team-high 59 digs while Mueller had 39 digs.

Forbes and Meyer each served 4 aces for Viator. Laterza, Mueller and senior Sam Anderson had 3 apiece.

Buffalo Grove (1-5) went 1-4 in the tourney, getting a win over Romeoville on Saturday.

Libertyville Invite: The Wildcats went 1-4 in the tourney to finish 12th out of 16 teams.

Leading the Wildcats (1-5 overall) in statistical categories were Timber Terrell (38 kills, 25 digs, 6 aces, 5 blocks), Michaela Vasey (30 kills, 38 digs, 4 aces), Hala Fakhoury (49 digs), Remy Jankowski (45 digs, 81 assists) and Shannon Kennedy (31 digs).
