Bolingbrook woman charged in Aurora liquor store robbery

A-36 year-old Bolingbrook woman has been charged in connection with a 2014 armed robbery of a liquor store on Aurora's Far East side where she is accused of scoping out the business for an accomplice, Aurora police said.

Wynter K. Lopez of the 200 block of Vernon Drive was arrested Monday and is charged with aggravated robbery and robbery.

Police said Lopez was captured on video making a small purchase at the store on the 2200 block of Ogden Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. June 23, 2014. She is seen peering over the counter, looking into the cash register as change was being made, police said. Within moments after she exited, her accomplice, a man, robbed the business at gunpoint, according to police.

Video surveillance also shows Lopez with the male approaching the business from an apartment complex located at the rear of the building and entering an alleyway that runs adjacent to the liquor store, police said. She then enters the store, makes her purchase and leaves.

As she walks back down the alleyway, the video shows the male, who is wearing a hooded sweatshirt and bandanna, walks past her before entering the store and robbing the clerk, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. Both Lopez and the male are then seen fleeing back toward the apartment complex, police said.

Investigators were able to identify Lopez because she made the purchase with a LINK card, police said.

Police said they are pursuing leads to the identity of the man who robbed the store. The clerk, a 49-year-old man, was not injured.
