Carpentersville VFW Auxiliary to host penny social Sept. 28

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, the Carpentersville Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary to Post 5915 is sponsoring its Penny Social fundraiser.

This annual event will be held at the Tri-City Evergreen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2298, 117 S. First St. in West Dundee.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and they will start calling numbers at 7 p.m.

There is a 50-cent fee to get in the door and this entitles you to the door prizes.

Two raffles will be held during the evening with many items on each raffle and tickets for the table items are a penny each. This is a fun evening for the entire family so we hope to see as many of you there as possible. Refreshments are also served at the end of the evening. Proceeds for this event go toward bettering the auxiliary's organizations goals.

Helen Helland, president of Auxiliary 5915, encourages donations of new or like-new items for the penny social. If pickup is needed, call Elaine Slack at (847) 658-3391 or Helen Helland at (847) 346-5506. It is the auxiliary's biggest moneymaker of the year.
