Learn practical parenting strategies to enhance loving families

TriCity Family Services and Changing Children's Worlds Foundation are collaborating to offer the International Child/Parent Development Program to families in the Tri-Cities area beginning Sept. 14.

The program is a series of parents' interactive learning groups and related children's activity groups that promote practical and effective strategies to enhance parent-child relationships, self-esteem, and self-control through routine, daily interactions.

Supportive discussions and activities throughout the program challenge all participants (including the community-based facilitators) to interact with family members thoughtfully and with empathy to enhance loving families and to help children become strong learners and leaders.

This series will focus on families with children with special needs, and the unique challenges they face.

It will be offered from 5:15 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 14 to Dec. 28, at the Pottawatomie Community Center, 8 North Ave. in St. Charles.

Cost is $15 for parent/child book set.
