SHS Color Fun(d) Run takes off Sept. 20

The SHS Foundation and Cross-Country Team will be hosting the third annual Color Fun(d) Run at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, on the north fields of the Stevenson High School campus.

Last year the event drew more than 500 participants and raised $16,000 to benefit the foundation's Kids In Need Fund. This year's event will also support the new Stevenson To College program.

Organizers expect more than 600 participants this year, including Stevenson students, parents and staff, as well as many younger children and families and other community members. Participants are encouraged to form teams.

Runners and walkers in this untimed 5K event encounter rainbows of safe, vibrantly-colored powders at points throughout the route, culminating in a massive color-throwing fest at the finish line.

Registration includes a T-shirt, sunglasses and goody bag. Entertainment will be provided by the Stevenson Band and DJ Club. Gold Sponsors to date include Quill and C2 Education. For information on event sponsorships, email gdiethrich@d125.org. To register, go to www.classy.org/shscolorfundrun.

The vision of the Stevenson to College Program is for every SHS graduate to earn a college degree. The Stevenson to College Program provides a range of support to at-risk students and their families through the college and financial aid research/application process, and provides supplemental ACT preparation, tutoring, counseling and career preparation, as well as laptops for college and tuition assistance when needed.
