Elk Grove Village man gets 4 years in late-night restaurant burglaries

An Elk Grove Village man admitted Thursday to committing three late-night restaurant burglaries in Elk Grove Village last year.

In exchange for his guilty plea to the class 2 felony, Alexander Clancy, 25, was sentenced to four years in prison, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Susanne Groebner.

During Clancy's June bond hearing, prosecutors say Clancy and another man, who has not yet been charged, broke the front window of a Subway on Touhy Avenue on Oct. 20, 2014, and took a safe containing cash. Late on Oct. 21 or early on Oct. 22, they broke a front window of a Little Caesar's Pizza on South Arlington Heights Road, removed a safe, and left it in the parking lot.

Video surveillance also showed Clancy and the other man breaking into Pete's-a-Pie on East Devon Avenue overnight on Nov. 14 and taking a cash register containing $100, prosecutors said.

Clancy must serve at least 50 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for release.
