Richard Marx and Irish Heritage Singers kick off season at Prairie Center for the Arts

Two great shows will kick off the 30th Season of Entertainment at the Prairie Center for the Arts this September.

Pop hit-maker Richard Marx performs at the Prairie Center on Saturday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m., and the Irish Heritage Singers are in concert on Sunday September 27 at 3:00 p.m.

Marx's nearly three-decade-long career has had innumerable highlights. The Chicago native has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, starting with his self-titled debut that spawned four Top 5 singles, including "Hold on to the Nights," with "Don't Mean Nothing" earning him a Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. To this day, he is the only male artist in history to have his first seven singles reach the Top 5 on the Billboard charts. His latest release, Beautiful Goodbye, introduces eclectic influences, including Sade, Gebel Gilberto, and even Chopin.

The Irish Heritage Singers, one of the very few Irish/Irish American Choral ensembles in the United States, perform traditional Irish and Irish American music, including music by contemporary Irish choral composers. Under the direction of Paul Matijevic, the group has appeared at the Irish American Heritage Festival, Celtic Fest Chicago, Milwaukee Irish Fest, Long Grove Irish Fest, Chicago's Cultural Center, and at the Sligo International Choral Festival in Sligo, Ireland.
