District 200 seeks committee volunteers

Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200 is seeking volunteers to serve on two committees: the Citizens Advisory Committee and the Enrollment Committee.

The mission of the Community Advisory Committee is to improve district schools by advising the administration and board of education regarding educational and other issues. Members will study and deliberate on problems, issues and questions of concern, and report the results of their studies to the board.

This committee also fulfills the board's commitment to ongoing, meaningful engagement with the broader community. The group will meet four to six times throughout the school year.

In preparing to add members, the selection committees will seek representation from the various geographic areas within District 200 boundaries. It will seek a cross-section of opinions and educational perspectives with a general ability to work constructively with others.

More than 70 percent of District 200 households do not have school-aged children and those households also will be represented on the committee.

Those interested in being considered should visit the district website to find an application and the committee's charter and bylaws.

Those with questions should call Mary Lou Sender at the District 200 School Service Center at (630) 682-2002 or email her at Mary.Sender@cusd200.org.

The enrollment committee, meanwhile, meets annually to review enrollment projections; evaluate actual student enrollment data and trends; and evaluate building and classroom use. If necessary, the committee identifies recommendations for the superintendent.

This year, the committee will be asked to review enrollment as it relates to the district's Facility Master Planning efforts. The enrollment committee will meet two or three times in the fall.

Interested volunteers should email Erica Loiacono at erica.loiacono@cusd200.org or call her at (630) 682-2469.
