Rotary fundraiser offers wine, beerr

The Libertyville Sunrise Rotary is sponsoring the sixth annual North Shore Wine, Beer & Cigar Fest fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, on Church Street in downtown Libertyville. This is the club's largest effort to raise money for the charities it supports.

More than 200 different wines to taste and over 50 craft beers will be available for tasting. Cigar and food vendors also will be on hand.

In the club's 26-year history, more than $1 million has been provided to local and international charities, including literacy and scholarship programs; programs to combat hunger, homelessness, and domestic violence; the eradication of polio and more.

Gates open at 4 p.m. Patrons will receive a tasting glass and 10 tasting tickets, which allows 10 tastes from the wine or beer booths. General admission is $30. A VIP ticket, which is $150, allows admission an hour early from 3-4 p.m. for a VIP wine tasting of many of the wineries' best labels, as well as beer.

VIP patrons receive a $100 credit to purchase wine/beer and one raffle ticket. A partner can attend with a VIP ticketholder using their $30 admission ticket.

Raffle tickets are $20 each or six for $100. There will be multiple raffle prizes totaling $7,500.

The club's 50 members are always accepting new members and welcome anyone wishing to find out more about the club to attend one of the weekly meetings. The club meets at 7 a.m. Wednesdays at Lambs Farm in Libertyville.
