Girls golf: Carmel Catholic claims conference win

Carmel Catholic's girls golf team was victorious in its East Suburban Catholic Conference opener Wednesday.

Kayla Ryan fired an even-par 36 to lead the Corsairs (163) past Benet (167) at Brae Loch Golf Course in Grayslake.

Carmel (3-0) also counted 42s from Eva Savovich and Danielle Savovich and Erin Kehoe's 43.

Benet was led by freshman Lauren Beaudreau's 38.

Warren d. Vernon Hills: At Bittersweet, Kelsey Campbell and Izzy Cordova shot a 40 and 41, respectively, and the host Blue Devils (178) picked up a win over the Cougars (216).

Faith Jung had a 42 for Vernon Hills.

Mundelein d. Lakes: At Countryside, Grace Gotlund's 43 and Jennifer Dimitriou's 44 paced the host Mustangs (181) to victory.

Lakes (240) received a 46 from Taylor Chisolm.

McHenry d. Grayslake Coop: The Warriors carded a winning 215.

Kara Ahlemeyer shot a 40 to lead Grayslake (245).

Grant d. Lake Zurich: Sophomore KiLynn Gold shot a 41 to win medalist honors and lead the Bulldogs (209) to victory over the Bears (227).

Buffalo Grove d. Stevenson: At Crane's Landing, the visiting Bison (176) were led by Emily Carnes' 38 and Jasmine Yi's 39.

Alexia Fidman's 41 paced Stevenson (185).
