Elk Grove Village police launch traffic campaign

The Elk Grove Village Police Department is in the middle of a two-week stepped-up traffic enforcement campaign where officers are assigned to several enforcement zones and are taking a "zero-tolerance" stance against driving infractions, officials said.

It mirrors similar efforts by other area police departments, which have received federal grants to conduct the added enforcement.

Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, police from Elk Grove and Arlington Heights will conduct a roadside safety check near the 800 block of Elmhurst Road in Elk Grove. They plan to identify motorists driving vehicles with defective equipment, those with licensing and insurance violations, and those driving under the influence.

The checkpoint concludes at 3 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5.
