DuPage County Board member set to announce bid for Congress

Republican DuPage County Board member Tonia Khouri of Aurora is set to announce her bid for Congress in the 11th Congressional District now occupied by Democrat Rep. Bill Foster of Naperville.

Khouri has been fundraising for the campaign already, and her campaign has advertised she'll formally announce her bid at a Yummy Chicken Dinner event on Sunday in Naperville.

"This Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 3:45 p.m., Tonia Khouri will officially announce her candidacy for Congress," a message on the Tonia Khouri for Congress Facebook page says.

Khouri is a second-term DuPage County Board member and owner of Green T Services. She hasn't spoken much publicly about the race. Still, federal election records show she raised more than $100,000 in the second quarter of the year toward her campaign and has loaned the effort more than $200,000.

A spokeswoman for Foster declined to comment. He defeated former state Rep. Darlene Senger of Naperville last year in his latest re-election try.

On her website, Khouri touts the support of Senger, businessman Bert Miller and Grundy County Republican Chris Balkema, who all ran for the 11th District GOP nomination in 2014.

Who replaces Blago as the bad guy now, Rauner or Madigan?
