Fox Tales Storytelling Festival is Aug. 30

Nationally renowned storytellers and musicians will entertain audiences of all ages from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, in the special event tent at the Algonquin Area Public Library, 2600 Harnish Drive in Algonquin.

Bring your blankets, chairs and picnic baskets and enjoy stories from Paddy Lynn, Sandi Sylver, Linda Gorham and Megan Wells.

Musicians Susan Salidor, Bill Robinson, Hanes & O'Meara, and The Frothy Boys will present musical selections ranging from lively and humorous to soothing and uplifting.

Local historical societies and living history re-enactors will share insights into McHenry County history and The James Bus will be on site, courtesy of the McHenry County Historical Society.

Several performers have strong ties to the local community, including LaGrange Park resident and award-winning performing artist Megan Wells, who worked as an actress and director in Chicago for 15 years before settling on storytelling as an art form.

She has appeared as a featured storyteller at the Illinois Storytelling Festival, Schaumburg Prairie Center, Sterling Festival, Chicago Wild Onion and WBEZ.

Third-generation hammered dulcimer player Bill Robinson lives in St. Charles and has been performing for more than 60 years. He has played with such groups as Illinois Country Opry and Wagon Wheel Opry, and is the founding member of Bill Robinson & Friends, which is still going strong today.

This free program is offered in cooperation with the Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department, the Algonquin Area Public Library, and the Algonquin Events and Recreation Department. The festival will be held rain or shine.
