'CEO Unplugged Series' to feature Dr. Clare Ollayos Sept. 2

How does a local chiropractic professional maintain business in a highly competitive market? What drives her passion for community service and giving back? How does she balance the rigors of serving on highly visible local community boards and organizations, serving her patients and squeezing in some downtime to reinvigorate her mind and body? What leadership and business skills has she learned from her years of experience working and volunteering with a wide range of professionals across a wide variety of industries?

Find out how Dr. Clare Ollayos values the importance of giving back to the community and maintains a loyal base of patients at the next Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce popular series, "CEO Unplugged," sponsored by the Grand Victoria Casino.

The luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 2, in the Fox River Room on the second floor of the Grand Victoria Casino pavilion, 250 S. Grove Ave., Elgin. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with luncheon at noon. Questions and networking will follow the presentation. Cost is $20 for members or $25 for guests.

Ollayos is a chiropractic physician with offices in Elgin. She is a graduate of St. Edward High School, Elgin, and Boston University, Mass. She received her doctor of chiropractic degree from National College of Chiropractic, Lombard.

A trustee on the Elgin Community College board since 1995, she served two consecutive terms as board chair, 2001-02 and 2002-03. She also served three terms as the board's vice chair.

Dr. Ollayos is a past president of the Illinois Community College Trustee Association and a member of the Association of Community College Trustees, currently serving on the board of directors. She has also served on the Finance and Audit Committee and Public Policy Committee for ACCT. In the community, Dr. Ollayos serves on the Elgin Public Museum board, is a member of Altrusa International, and an active YWCA volunteer.

A dedicated community volunteer, her awards include the 2009 Ray Hartstein Trustee Achievement Award from ICCTA; 2009 President's Award for Distinguished Service to the chiropractic profession by the National University of Health Sciences; the 2005 YWCA Leader Luncheon Gerberding Award for Public Service; 2005 Judson College D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award; 2002 Distinguished Service Award from the Elgin Cosmopolitan Club; Outstanding Young Woman of Elgin; 2000 Notable American Women.

The luncheon series was formulated by the Chamber's Special Events Committee: Pat Szpekowski, PR Strategies/PmS advertising, inc., chair, Kelly Brown, Drapery Connection; Toni Diones, Winergy; Yvonne Irving, KCT Credit Union; Michael Storey, Beckatt Solutions and Carol Gieske, Elgin Area Chamber.

The speakers for the remainder of 2015 include: Bob Paddock Jr. of the Daily Herald on Oct. 7, and David Ziegler and Adam Ziegler of Ziegler Ace Hardware on Nov. 4.
