Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System celebrated 25 years of community service

Streamwood, IL - On Tuesday, September 15th, Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System (SBHS) will celebrate 25 years of serving youth of the Chicagoland area with a ceremony focused on recognizing vital members of the Streamwood community, along with a training presentation by a nationally recognized speaker from the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention.

A special recognition ceremony from 2:00-4:00 pm will celebrate the many pivotal pieces of the Streamwood mental health community. From 4:30-6:30 pm, the ceremony will be capped off with a renowned speaker from the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention. The presentation, entitled, Youth Suicide: Awareness, Intervention & Prevention, will offer 2 free CEUs to mental health professionals. The entire day's events are free, open to the public and include heavy appetizers and refreshments.

SBHS's 25 years represent a relentless fight to minimize the stigma associated with mental health issues, 25 years of the community having a place to go when a mental health crisis arises, and 25 years of working as a community to provide families with hope and recovery.

When asked to explain what he would like the Chicagoland community to know about SBHS, CEO Ron Weglarz explained, "We need the community to know we are here, in their backyards as a resource if they or a loved one ever need mental health crisis intervention. Too many family members only learn about us when they are referred to our campus - on quite possibly their most emotional day, when a loved one is in danger of hurting themselves or other people. We offer hope to our patients and their families on a daily basis. We need the community to know we are here and that we specialize in mental health exclusively. This event is an opportunity to invite the community onto our campus for them to understand what a behavioral health facility really looks like."
