As part of this year's Feet Fest 3K Family Fun Run, Palatine Park District has teamed up with Packages 4 Patriots to host a Feet Fest Sock Drive for those serving in the military. Packages 4 Patriots creates care packages that are shipped to all branches of the military including the Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard. NEW SOCKS, in the packaging, will be collected at the annual Feet Fest 3K Family Fun Run on Sunday, August 30 at 8:30am in Towne Square and at the Palatine Park District Street Fest Booth in Towne Square on Saturday, August 29 from 11:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday, August 30 from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Socks that are needed include: black and brown socks, black ankle socks, brown boot socks, white crew socks (no tube socks), and running socks.

Packages for Patriots is a 100% volunteer run grassroots organization. Everything the organization ships is donated, including monetary donations to cover the postage fees. The group is currently shipping to the Middle East including Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq and they are supporting the USS Roosevelt as well as the USS New York. According to Kathi Mode with Packages for Patriots, they have shipped "over 64,000 pounds of good stuff to our soldiers since June 2010."
