Palatine Children's Chorus to Host Free Fall Welcome Nights

Palatine Children's Chorus, a program of the Palatine Park District, is offering two free Welcome Nights this Fall. These free evenings offer children and their parents an opportunity to meet program staff and learn more about Palatine Children's Chorus and its individual choirs. Welcome Nights are being held on Monday, Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m. and on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Palatine Park District Community Center, Room 1C, 250 E. Wood Street, Palatine.

Welcome Nights are for children ages 8 and older with their parents. All children who attend a welcome night will be placed in the choir where they will be most comfortable and successful. Choirs for children ages 8 and up include Treble Choir, Intermezzo Choir, Concert Choir and Honors Choir. Younger children who are ages 4-7 may register for the Sing with Me and Do Re Mi programs at www.palatineparks.org. Fall rehearsals for the choirs will begin Sept. 2 for Treble Choir and September 14 for Intermezzo, Concert, and Honors Choirs. Older singers rehearse on Mondays, and younger singers rehearse on Wednesdays.

Palatine Children's Chorus is a program for children ages 4-18 who love to sing! The Palatine Children's Chorus begins its 29th season in September. Singers from throughout the northwest suburbs enjoy a variety of musical experiences in the Sing with Me (ages 4-5), Do Re Mi (ages 6-7), Treble (age 8+), Intermezzo, Concert, and Honors Choirs. The Chorus safely nurtures children's voices, introduces all age groups to a variety of music, and offers each level appropriate and safe vocal instruction and music education. The PCC traveling choirs have performed all around world including Carnegie Hall in New York City, Hawaii, Montreal, England, Austria, Venice, and Spain. Additionally, the choirs have performed for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Joffrey Ballet, and at the Illinois State Fair.

All PCC choirs will perform a Fall concert on October 18 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine, in addition to holiday concerts at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center on December 9 and 12. All PCC choruses, including Do Re Mi, will also help the mayor light the Palatine Christmas tree on Saturday, Nov. 21.
