Central Road bike shoulder installation to begin in Des Plaines
Construction is expected to begin soon on 6-foot wide bike shoulders along Central Road in Des Plaines that will connect with the 27-mile Barrington - Wilmette Harbor Bikeway, officials said Monday.
The work on the striped, paved bike shoulders will begin at Wolf Road and end at River Road, with completion expected by May 2016, officials said.
The $1.6 million project is being funded by a $1.3 million federal grant, and $333,924 in city funds.
