Author appearances: Meet Vanessa Diffenbaugh at two local events

• Meet Vanessa Diffenbaugh, The New York Times best-selling author of "The Language of Flowers," as she discusses her newest novel, "We Never Asked for Wings," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the Highland Park Public Library, 494 Laurel Ave., Highland Park.
