Alzheimer's fundraiser features Neil Diamond tribute show

Visiting Angels of South Elgin is hosting a sold-out Neil Diamond tribute show with Jeff Silberfine to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association's local Kane County chapter. The show will be Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Porter's Pub in Elgin, with a silent auction at 10:30 a.m., lunch at noon and "Doc Diamond" performing at 1 p.m.

"We announced the show back in May and it was sold out in less than two months," says Arlene Petersen, owner of the South Elgin Visiting Angels agency. "Our office talked about doing a walk, but then came up with the idea to do something just a little different. Jeff was on board instantly!"

Silberfine, a chiropractor from Carpentersville, loves Neil Diamond and designed a show that entertains seniors in the community. He commits his off time to bringing his talent to senior centers, private parties and corporate events.

"If our local office ranks as one of the top five fundraising offices, our corporate leaders have committed to donate a total of $50,000 to those five teams," Petersen said. "We have received over $5,200 in donated prizes."

The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Visiting Angels is dedicated to fuel the Association's care, support and research initiative to increasing Alzheimer's awareness in the local community and nationwide.

Although the show is sold out, donations can be made on the Visiting Angels of South Elgin team page at act.alz.org/goto/visitingangelssouthelgin.
