Minister from Woodstock accused of having child porn

A Baptist minister was arrested Friday at his Woodstock home and charged with having child pornography.

The Rev. Timothy Williams, 50, a resident of the 500 block of Brookdale Road, was charged with six counts of possession of child pornography.

Williams is being held in the McHenry County jail on $100,000 bail.

According to the McHenry County sheriff's office, Williams' arrest was the culmination of an eight-month investigation that began after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Williams' home in July. Images containing child pornography and online chat messages with references to child pornography were found on Williams' computer, according to the sheriff's office.

Williams was a minister at the Heritage Baptist Church in Greenwood, Illinois.

One day after the warrant was executed, according to the sheriff's office, Williams was removed from the church's website.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office at (815) 334-4750.
