Shelter partners with local firms for a planned giving seminar series

You can leave a lasting legacy that coincides with your values while retaining your financial security. There are several ways to provide a legacy of love for animals or your favorite cause, through charitable planned giving. Planned giving is the process of making a charitable gift of your assets to one or more nonprofit or charitable organizations while you are alive or after you pass. This type of giving is a charitable tool that not only allows you to fulfill your own financial goals and objectives, it has a major impact by supporting the mission of the organization you choose.

Planned gifts include bequests made through your will, gifts that provide income to you and others for life and gifts of life insurance, charitable lead trusts or retirement plans. These gifts can be made in cash, stocks, bonds, personal property, life insurance and real estate.

Planned giving requires consideration and planning in light of the donors overall estate plan.

The Financial Planning & Tax Seminar will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9. Speakers will be Jorie Pitt, certified financial planner and lead financial planner with AHC Advisors Inc., and Jon Olson, a certified public accountant with JC Olson & Associates.

The Will & Trusts Seminar will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30. Speaker will be attorney Theodore Kuczek with the Law Firm of Kuczek & Associates.
