Churches Stride Against Hunger with CROP Walk
Several local churches will be walking to raise funds to alleviate hunger locally and globally at the Northwest DuPage United CROP Hunger walk on Oct. 18.
The annual event will take place Sunday, Oct. 18., starting at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 1044 Congress Road, Bartlett. Registration begins at 1 p.m., and the even starts at 1:30 p.m.
CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by religious groups, businesses, schools and others to raise funds to end hunger in the U.S. and around the world.
Participating walkers collect pledges to raise money, and 25 percent of that money is used locally. The remainder of the money raised is used to alleviate hunger around the world.
The location of the walk rotates around various participating host churches in northwest DuPage County each year.
Several area churches will be participating, including members from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Schaumburg, who will be returning for their third year.
