Sky diver dies from air show injuries

An Army Golden Knight sky diver injured in a midair collision Saturday at the Chicago Air and Water Show has died, according to published reports. Sgt. 1st Class Corey Hood, 32, of Cincinnati, collided with a Navy Leap Frog sky diver Saturday morning during the air show. According to the Golden Knights website biography of Hood, he served five tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Full story.

Passenger exits moving vehicle near Antioch

A front-seat passenger in an SUV suffered serious injuries after stepping out of the vehicle while it was in motion near Antioch. The Lake County sheriff's office said the incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. on northbound North Lake Avenue near Route 173. Full story.

Hoffman Estates man is missing

Police are searching for Hoffman Estates resident Steven Sanchez, who went missing after attending the Chicago Air and Water Show on Saturday. The 50-year-old man was last seen Saturday around 8 p.m. near Burnham Harbor, Chicago, officials said. He was on his way to the Inverness area but did not show up, authorities said. Full story.

When life hands you falling lemon juice, file a lawsuit

A Batavia woman filed suit against Aldi, claiming she was injured when a display of one-quart lemon juice bottles apparently toppled. Carrie Jaques Markuson seeks more than $50,000 in damages for injuries she says she sustained Aug. 16, 2013, while shopping at an Aldi at 451 N. Randall Road in Batavia, according to court records. Lake Villa teen disappears from home

The Lake County sheriff's office issued an alert Sunday night about a missing Lake Villa girl. Sarah J. Wohlrabe, 17, was last seen at home about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Full story.

Nothing official, but Rondon is Cubs' closer

Cubs manager Joe Maddon is stopping just short of formally declaring Hector Rondon the team's closer, even though Rondon is pretty much that. "I prefer not saying anything because he's doing so well," Maddon said Sunday. "Just go play. Right now he's pitching in the ninth inning." Rondon, who did not pitch in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the White Sox, leads the Cubs with 21 saves. Read Bruce Miles' take here.

Sale's outing a memorable one
