'Book of Mormon' returning to Chicago in 2016

There's good news and bad news for fans of "The Book of Mormon," the gleefully satirical, zestfully subversive Tony Award-winning musical by "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Robert Lopez ("Avenue Q").

The good news: the show returns to the Bank America Theatre - at 18 W. Monroe St., Chicago, where it broke records for tickets sales in 2012 and 2015 - for a seven-week run. The bad news: the imminently tuneful and aggressively indecorous "BOM" doesn't return until June 28, 2016, according to Broadway in Chicago, which announced the news late Monday.

The adult-oriented show - which satirizes religion's more fantastical tenets but celebrates the sincerity of the faithful - centers around a pair of earnest, young Mormon men who leave their Utah homes to serve as missionaries in an impoverished African village.

Tickets for groups of 15 or more are available online at broadwayinchicago.com or by phone at (312) 977-1710. Single tickets will go on sale at a later date. For more information, see bookofmormonthemusical.com.
