Chicago Air and Water Show draws millions to lakefront

The Chicago Air & Water Show is drawing thousands to the lakefront again today despite unusually hot and humid conditions.

The show, in its 57th year, didn't disappoint the crowds Saturday who turned out to see favorites the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and newcomers, the Breitling Jet Team.

Breitling performed precision high-speed aerobatic maneuvers with seven L-39 C Albatros jets, which can reach speeds up to 565 mph. This is the first year the French team is flying in the U.S.

All parachute acts have been canceled today after two parachutists with the Army Golden Knights and Navy Leap Frogs collided Saturday. The Navy Leap Frogs jumper suffered a broken leg but landed safely on North Avenue Beach. The second, from the Army Golden Knights, hit a high-rise before landing near Lake Shore Drive. That parachutist is listed in critical condition Sunday.

Today's show runs until 3 p.m. See a complete list of performers at http://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/depts/dca/supp_info/chicago_air_and_watershow.html. 32642448The U.S. Navy Blue Angels perform Saturday at the Chicago Air & Water Show.Teresa Schmedding 32642448The U.S. Navy Blue Angels perform Saturday at the Chicago Air & Water Show.Teresa Schmedding 32642448The Breitling Jet Team performs Saturday at the Chicago Air & Water Show.Teresa Schmedding 32642448Luc Herginere of the Breitling Jet Team.Teresa Schmedding 32642448The Breitling Jet Team performs Saturday at the 57th annual Chicago Air & Water Show.Teresa Schmedding 32642448The humid weather made for some amazing views in the sky Saturday.Teresa Schmedding
