Gurnee man charged with sex assault of child
A 66-year-old Gurnee man was jailed on charges of predatory criminal sexual assault involving a 6-year-old girl he had been baby-sitting, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's police said they began an investigation after receiving a report Wednesday from the child's mother, who said her daughter had been inappropriately touched on several occasions.
Investigators determined Rudow, of the 34200 block of Birch Lane, had sexual contact with the girl on approximately 30 occasions while the child was between the ages of 3 and 6, according to a sheriff's office news release. Rudow was responsible for baby-sitting the child when the abuse occurred, the release said.
Rudow was subsequently charged with 30 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony. Additional criminal charges are possible pending the investigation.
He was held Friday in the Lake County jail on a $500,000 bond. An Aug. 19 court date has been set.
