Victory Rock Fellowship to host back-to-school picnic, concert

Victory Rock Fellowship will be hosting a free picnic and concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23. This picnic will be immediately followed up by a concert featuring the Assemblymen Gospel Quartet.

Victory Rock Fellowship, a growing and vital community church located on Route 176 in Marengo, is hosting the picnic and concert for the Marengo/Union community and surrounding areas, including Crystal Lake, Algonquin, Huntley and Woodstock.

Based out of Rockford, the Assemblymen are a local favorite in the gospel and quartet circuit. One of the original members, tenor Dave Nelson is a retired owner from Nelson Piping Company in Rockford. The other members are sound engineer John Tallacksen, bass Richard Kluck, baritone Paul Nelson and lead vocalist Gary Shull.

The Rev. Dale Noe, pastor of Victory Rock Fellowship, is excited to host an event like this at the church. "Today's families struggle to find affordable and wholesome entertainment. An event like this allows the community to come together through food and fellowship. We love our community and this is just one way to show it."
