Tanker truck flips onto car on I-94

Minor injuries were reported in a tanker truck crash on I-94 near Route 176 in Deerfield early Wednesday.

Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Steve LeGrand said a tanker truck hauling barley was hit by a passenger vehicle in the southbound lanes about 5:30 a.m.

The driver of the tanker swerved to the left to avoid the collision, LeGrand said, but overturned on the left shoulder, landing on a third vehicle.

Two southbound lanes were shut down while the driver of the passenger vehicle was freed from the wreckage and the tanker was hauled away. The driver of the vehicle and the truck driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, LeGrand said.

Two southbound left lanes of I-94 were shut down between Route 176 and Route 22 until about 9:30 a.m., he said.
