Sherman Hospital to dedicate community garden

A special dedication ceremony will take place at the Sherman Hospital Natural Prairie and Community Garden Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Residents are invited to join University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners, Sherman Hospital Garden Committee members and other hospital associates for the dedication, which takes place at noon in the community garden, just east of the geothermal lake at the hospital, 1425 N. Randall Road in Elgin.

During the ceremony, the new pergola and butterfly garden will be dedicated, and the many volunteers and supporters who have made the garden a success will also be honored.

The butterfly garden was developed as part of the Helen King Girl Scout Gold Project.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to view 48 garden beds, five of which are master gardener demonstration beds.
