Couple sentenced for Elgin home invasion

A Chicago parolee and a Woodstock teen pleaded guilty Monday to breaking into an Elgin man's home in November, threatening him and stealing electronics and cash.

Joshua Hampton, 26, of the 9200 block of Throop Street, was sentenced Monday to 17 years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea to home invasion and armed robbery. Co-defendant Krista Robson, 19, was sentenced to 15 years for the same charges.

Each was ordered to pay $694 in fines, court records show.

Authorities say Hampton and Robson entered the man's home about 1 a.m. Nov. 28. Hampton threatened the man with a bludgeon and ordered him to lie on the floor while he and Robson took a 60-inch television, a Sony PlayStation, an iPhone and $60.

Hampton and Robson showed up at the victim's house after he responded to an online ad for an escort, police said.

The victim recognized the couple from their photographs, which accompanied a December newspaper article describing a similar crime, prosecutors said during Hampton's and Robson's bail hearings.

Hampton and Robson both received credit for 245 days in custody. They must complete at least 50 percent of their sentences before they are eligible for release, prosecutors said.
