AquaSprites present annual swim show 'Summer Splash'

The AquaSprites Synchronized Swim Team will present its annual water show "Summer Splash," 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the Lattof YMCA, 300 E. Northwest Hwy., Des Plaines.

This season, the AquaSprite athletes have competed in regionals in St. Louis; in the Zone Championship in Minomonee, Wisconsin; and the Junior Olympic Championships in Greensborough, North Carolinia.

"Summer Splash" includes Senior AquaSprites Jenna Gudritz and Sasha Boudko, who will be featured in a medley of duets they have performed over the years as duet partners. In the fall, Gudritz will attend Michigan State University while Boudko will attend Colorado State University. Gudritz was honored with the 2015 North Zone Athlete of the Year Award at the Zone Championship.

The 10-member team, a combination of former AquaSprites, Masters, coaches and Senior AquaSprites, do a combo routine "Uptown Funk."

Age Group athletes routines include "Can't Hold Us," "El Tango," a Michael Jackson medley and "Nitty Gritty."

Novice and Intermediate AquaSprites show their skills in "Surfs Up" and "ABBA" and swim in the traditional "Peace" candle number.

Admission is $5; free for ages 8 and younger.
