A day boating trip to Lake Delavan in southern Wisconsin turned tragic for a St. Charles man remembered as generous and gentle by his loved ones after he drowned Sunday. Workers sickened by fumes during storm cleanup

Chemicals being used to clean a business damaged by the storm that came through Grayslake sent six people to the hospital yesterday, fire officials said. Firefighters responded to the call of a potential carbon monoxide leak at GFX International, 333 N. Barron Blvd., about 12:20 p.m., said Grayslake Battalion Chief Joris Lillge. Full story.

Dog stolen from Northbrook animal hospital

A Jack Russell terrier-mix dog was stolen from a Northbrook animal hospital, police say. A person took the dog, named Mr. Reese, from a small dog kennel at Heartland Animal Hospital, 2975 N. Milwaukee Ave. Mr. Reese was pending adoption. Full story.

Rosemont dome repairs could take months

It might be months before repairs are made to Rosemont's indoor softball dome, which collapsed in Sunday's heavy winds, authorities said Monday. Village officials believe it was a microburst that hit Rosemont at 2:40 p.m. Sunday and brought down the plastic air-suspended roof, which covers the 140,000-square-foot indoor sports venue.
