Hanover Township Backpack Giveaway Aug. 12

Hanover Township in cooperation with state Rep. Fred Crespo and Cook County Commissioner Timothy O. Schneider will host its annual Backpack Giveaway on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Laurel Hill Elementary School, 1750 Laurel Ave., in Hanover Park.

Beginning at 9. m., township youth, grades K through 6, can receive a free backpack filled with school supplies, while supplies last. Proof of Hanover Township residency is required, with a limit of one backpack per child.

Last year, more than 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies were given to township youth.

"Every child deserves to start the school year on the right foot, beginning with having a backpack and the supplies needed to complete assignments," said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township Supervisor. "Once again we are overwhelmed by the tremendous outpouring of donations from our sponsors, residents and community organizations for our backpack giveaway."
