Weekend collectibles show opens in Rosemont

The National Sports Collectors Convention event opened Thursday for a full weekend of activity, July 29 to Aug. 2.

Held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Road, in Rosemont, show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The National is host to more than 600 dealers and distributors, 50 corporate displays - with sports, entertainment and gaming cards and collectibles, toys, event-used equipment and sports & entertainment autographs.

As well, the show has some costumes and props for auction that actor Sylvester Stallone used when he filmed the "Rocky" and "Rambo" movies - including Rocky Balboa's leather jacket from "Rocky I" and John Rambo's army jacket from "First Blood."

General admission is $18, although two VIP levels of tickets are available. See www.nsccshow.com for more details.
