Big crowd for Hanover Park COPS Day picnic

Hanover Park police held their annual COPS Day picnic earlier this month at Anne Fox School. Despite a little bit of light rain, the turnout was great, with an estimated crowd of more than 800 people.

The event included face painting, a variety of emergency vehicles from many local agencies on display, a K-9 demonstration, a charity raffle of a bicycle and television to benefit Special Olympics, and appearances by several area mascots, including those of the Schaumburg Boomers, Chicago Bandits and Chicago Wolves.

Kids were treated to an appearance by Iron Man (David Nicklas), and free hot dogs were served.

The Freemasons of Illinois sponsored a table for the Illinois Child Identification Program, which was a great success with the parents of more than 70 children participating and receiving their information packets. The 101.9 FM Mix Road Crew were present as well.
