Help injured, hungry pelican with your donation

A hungry pelican needs your help.

American white pelicans often can be seen during spring and fall migration, and many actually hang around all summer. A pelican was found on the Rock River, missing the lower portion of his left wing.

The Fox Valley Wildlife Center in Elburn is asking for donations.

Because of his injury, he is not releasable and they are looking for a good home for him. They are caring for him in the meantime and need your help!

Pelicans eat 4-6 pounds of fish every day. That's a lot of fish! They are looking for donations of whole small fish (such as smelt), and fillets of larger fish.

Bring donations to the center, located in Elburn Forest Preserve, 45W061 Route 38 in Elburn, during business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Monetary donation are also welcomed. Visit www.foxvalleywildlife.org to donate through PayPal, donate by mail, P.O. Box 385, Elburn, IL 60119, or stop by the center. They take cash, check, credit card, and fish. For details, call (630) 365-3800.
