Wheeling police seek public input in reaccreditation

The Wheeling Police Department is seeking residents' comments at a public information hearing taking place Wednesday, Aug. 5, as part of its reaccreditation process.

An on-site assessment of the Wheeling Police Department is scheduled for Aug. 3-6 as part of a program to ensure the department meets professional standards. Conducted by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, the reaccreditation program will look at the police department's policies and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

Residents wishing to make comments can attend the hearing at 5 p.m. Aug. 5, in the council chambers on village hall's second floor.

The public can also make comments over the phone from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5 by calling (847) 459-2604.
