Library serves up programs about food

Three free food programs are coming in August to the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. To register, call (847) 923-3347 or visit the information desk on the library's second floor.

"Tailgating Party Foods" will be from 7:30-9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 10, in the Rasmussen Room. Chef Michael Maddox will demonstrate ways to spice up tailgating parties. Recipes and samples will be provided.

"Food Lover's Guide to Chicago" will take place from 7-8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12, in the Rasmussen North Room. Local restaurants, farmers markets, cooking classes, specialty stores and more will be highlighted by author Jennifer Olvera. Food will not be included.

"Crazy Cooking: Recipes so Bad, They're Good!" is scheduled from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, in the Rasmussen South Room. Vintage cookbook collector and author Amy Alessio will talk about recipes past and present that shouldn't work, but do. Snacks and recipes provided.

Registration is required for each of these programs.
