Enjoy a night with the Schaumburg Park District, Police and Fire Departments

The Schaumburg Park District is participating in National Night Out and the neighborhood is invited to the party.

Celebrate safety and your community at this free, annual event, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Aug. 4 at Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way.

The evening will include public safety agencies and will enhance crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and promote anti-crime programs.

"National Night Out is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and meet those who serve and protect us," said Doug Sieder, manager of Meineke Recreation Center.

Participants will enjoy games, contests, a DJ, sidewalk chalk play, and meeting Schaumburg police officers and firefighters. Open swim in Meineke Pool will be available from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Barbecued concessions and beverages will be sold for a minimal cost.
