Rolling Meadows church to host Cornfest, craft fair

The 59th annual Cornfest and Craft Fair is being held this weekend at Community Church of Rolling Meadows, Kirchoff and Meadow drives.

Cornfest runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., while the craft fair begins and ends an hour earlier. Admission to the grounds is free.

The menu features all you can eat sweet corn, grown locally and picked just hours before it is boiled and smothered in butter. The meal also includes a hamburger, brat, or hot dog, relishes, grilled onions, watermelon and beverage. The meal price is $13 for adults, $10 for seniors, $6 for children ages 4-12, and free for kids 3 and younger.

Meal tickets may be purchased at the door. Seating will be available under the tent in case of rain. Fresh picked sweet corn will also be bagged for sale by the dozen or half-dozen.

The craft fair will feature booths filled with handmade arts and crafts by area artisans, as well as other vendors. A raffle will feature items such as Cubs and White Sox tickets and a night at the Abbey Resort in Fontana, Wisconsin.

Other activities include a face painter and a balloon artist, as well as the opportunity to see a fire truck and a Hummer used by police. Live music will be provided throughout the day.

For information, call (847) 255-5510 or go to communitychurchrm.com. The church will hold a joint worship service with Kingdom Life House of Prayer under the tent at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
