Paddleboard pros in Libertyville

Alex Theil, 13, and his sister, Theresa, 15, of Gurnee rode stand-up paddleboards Monday around the lake at Independence Grove Forest Preserve in Libertyville.

"It's a lot of fun and not as hard as I expected," Theresa said as she paddled for the first time.

Independence Grove Marina offers rentals of pedal boats, stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, row boats and canoes. The marina is open 6:30 a.m. to one hour before sunset and is located along the south bay of the preserve's 115-acre lake.
