Schaumburg Boomers fall to Rockford 7-2

The Schaumburg Boomers lost their third straight game to the visiting Rockford Aviators, falling 7-2 on Sunday to the Frontier League West Division leaders.

Boomers left fielder and Northwestern University alum Kyle Ruchim led Schaumburg's offense with 2 hits, including a double that scored designated hitter Mike Schulze following an error by Aviators left fielder Anthony Renteria. Schulze had the Boomers' only RBI, driving in second baseman Jordan Dean after Dean's leadoff double in the first inning.

Rockford collected 10 hits in five innings against Boomers starter Peter Gehle. The Boomers' arms struck out 11 Aviators, with recently signed reliever AJ Quintero working 2 hitless innings out of the bullpen. Rockford starter Kyle Hassna earned his seventh victory.

The Boomers (25-35) continue to search for franchise victory No. 200 with a series against the Joliet Slammers Tuesday-Thursday at Boomers Stadium.
