A day to celebrate the Volo Bog

Visitors celebrated International Bog Day Sunday at the Volo Bog State Natural Area on Brandenburg Road in Ingleside.

The day featured live storytelling and music, an art show, nature readings, silent auction, tours of the bog, kids activities and refreshments. Activities were held indoors and outdoors. International Bog Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of July and started in Scotland in 1991. It is celebrated throughout northern Europe, Canada and the United States. The Volo Bog has been celebrating Bog Day since 2008.
