Earn badges, experience nature at Girl Scout Badge Blitz

Girl Scouts have an opportunity to earn multiple badges in one day through the Schaumburg Park District's Girl Scout Badge Blitz.

From crafts and geocaching to hiking and camping, concurrent badge programs will be offered 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 12 at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road. The new event is open to Daisy, Brownie and Junior-level scouts.

"It's a fun day at a beautiful place and a new way to earn badges," said Mary Rice, education coordinator for Spring Valley. "We picked badges we could do in the time allotted. We hope it's going to be a success."

The fun also includes roasting hot dogs and marshmallows around a campfire. Registration is required for each badge program and is first come, first served. Early registration is recommended.
